OVERCOMING THE PROBLEM OF DEFICIT IN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HEALTHY BEHAVIOR: THROUGH DENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION

Abstract

Background: Dental health is a support for achieving health. It is estimated that 2.5 billion people suffer from untreated dental caries World Health Organization (WHO) 2022. Children who do not know that dental care can affect the health status of their teeth. Objective: this research uses dental care education to increase knowledge about dental care, so that healthy behavior can be formed in children with dental caries at MI ELPIST Temanggung in 2023. Method: this case study uses 2 respondents with dental caries who experience a knowledge deficit about dental health (1 ). Data was collected through nursing assessments (structured interviews, observations, physical examinations and supporting examinations) to identify knowledge deficit nursing problems. Results: After being given health education about dental health for 3 days, the two respondents experienced increased knowledge about dental care. Apart from that, the two respondents were able to demonstrate how to brush their teeth. Conclusion: Two respondents initially experienced a knowledge deficit about dental care and did not yet know how to brush their teeth properly. The 1st respondent doesn't know how to care for his teeth and how to brush his teeth properly. The value (1) decreases, while the 2nd respondent doesn't know how to care for his teeth and how to brush his teeth properly. After being given dental health education for 3 days, the level of knowledge of both respondents increased with a score of (1) to (5) increasing. Knowledge level decreased to increase
