EFFECTIVENESS OF OXYTOCIN MASSAGE IN INCREASING POTENTIAL EFFECTIVE BREASTFEEDING IN POST PARTUM MOTHERS

Background: Breast milk in lactating women is influenced by the hormones oxytocin and prolactin. Oxytocin massage is useful to trigger parasympathetic nerves to quickly propagate signals to the hindbrain so that the performance of the oxytocin hormone can be stimulated and release breast milk, oxytocin massage serves as a stimulus for women's milk productivity during breastfeeding, and can increase the mother's sense of comfort. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of oxytocin massage to increase the potential for effective breastfeeding in postpartum mothers. Methods: This study took the subjects of two women who were in the breastfeeding period. The process of data analysis is by paying attention to how the subject responds after being treated with oxytocin massage, then the data obtained is written in narrative text accompanied by facts. Results: The evaluation of the action was carried out using the outcome of effective breastfeeding increase with indicators including the mother's skill in placing the baby's position, breast attachment to the baby, the mother's confidence, the emission or dripping of breast milk and the supply or amount of breast milk availability. Conclusion: The results of achieving effective breastfeeding in both case study subjects received a scale of 5 on all indicators of outcome criteria, which means that breastfeeding status improved after 3 days of oxytocin massage.References
