Abstract

Introduction: Anemia is a condition characterized by a reduction in red blood cells, resulting from a decrease in hemoglobin (Hb) levels. The process of hemoglobin formation requires adequate protein and iron content in the body. The global prevalence of anemia in 2019 was 29.9% among women of reproductive age (15-49 years). The impacts of anemia include decreased immunity, concentration, physical fitness in adolescents, productivity, and ineffective peripheral perfusion. One of the causes of ineffective peripheral perfusion is a decrease in Hb concentration. One non-pharmacological approach to address ineffective peripheral perfusion is circulation-based care through diet education using beetroot juice (Beta vulgaris l.). Beetroot is rich in saturated fatty acids (0.03), folate (34%), iron (7.4%), and other beneficial substances that contribute to improving circulation and Hb levels. Research Objective: The objective of the study is to provide an overview of the effectiveness of beetroot juice in addressing ineffective peripheral perfusion in anemia. Research Methodology: The approach utilized is a case study. This research explores the effects of beetroot juice over a period of 7 days on ineffective peripheral perfusion in two participants. Research Results: The results indicate a significant improvement in peripheral perfusion, changing from a moderate scale (3) to increased (5) after the intervention. Additionally, the Hb levels in the first participant increased from 8.5 g/dL to 12.1 g/dL, and in the second participant, they increased from 9.5 g/dL to 12.4 g/dL. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate the potential of beetroot juice in enhancing peripheral circulation and Hb levels.
