Abstract

Background: There has been a marked increase in depressive symptoms in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has worsened post-pandemic, exacerbated by psychosocial factors (social isolation, bullying), changes in educational formats, increased exposure to social media and stigma. Objective: To determine the picture of adolescent depression Depression in high school students after the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive research method. The sampling technique was total sampling with 36 high school students in grade XII. The data collection instrument was the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaire with 14 depression scale items from Dita Cahayatiningsih et al.'s research. Results: The results of the distribution of the DASS Depression Scale showed that most students were on the normal scale as many as 27 students (31.3%), 6 students at mild depression levels (16.7%) and 3 students at moderate depression levels (8.3%). Conclusion: Some respondents were at moderate and mild depression levels. If depression is not treated immediately, it will increase the risk of suicidal ideation, so it requires ongoing support and intervention strategies for adolescents.
