ADMINISTRATION OF WARM GINGER HONEY TO OVERCOME INEFFECTIVE AIRWAY CLEANSING IN CHILDREN WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTION (ARI)

Acute Respiratory Infection or often known as ISPA is Acute Respiratory Tract Infection. ARI is one of the health problems that has infected as many as 12.8% of the number of toddlers in Indonesia. ARI disease results in disruption of airway obstruction caused by excessive accumulation of secretions. Ineffective and retained secretions cause several nursing problems including an airway that is not effectively cleaned. This problem can be solved by giving warm ginger and honey drinks. The content of essential oils, zygiberen and zygiberol compounds in ginger and vit C in honey, are beneficial in sputum discharge and reducing cough severity. This study describes the effectiveness of warm ginger and honey drinks in overcoming the problem of ineffective airway clearance in ARI. The research is a case study. The results of the study of the two respondents after being given warm ginger and honey drinks for 3 days, experienced an increase in effective airway clearance as assessed by airway clearance outcomes. In conclusion, the problem of ineffective airway in ARI can be overcome using strategies such as consuming warm honey and ginger drinks for 3 days.References
