THE INFLUENCE OF CHEST PHYSIOTHERAPY ON INEFFECTIVE AIRWAY CLEARANCE IN CHILDREN WITH ARTIs

Abstract

            The issue of Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ARTIs) continues to be a focal point in society, as it is a sudden-onset disease that can lead to fatalities among toddlers in developing countries, including Indonesia. Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ARTIs) refer to acute infections that affect one or more parts of the respiratory tract, from the nose to the alveoli, as well as related structures such as sinuses, middle ear cavities, and the pleura. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of chest physiotherapy intervention in reducing inefficient respiratory functions in patients with ARTIs. The research adopts a case study approach. In a case study method, the research focuses on detailed analysis of the characteristics, nature, and background of a particular case. In this study, two eligible patients, both aged 2 years and suffering from ARTIs, are the focus of the analysis. The results of this case study indicate that chest physiotherapy conducted over 3 sessions proved effective in addressing inefficient respiratory functions in patients with ARTIs. It can be concluded from this study that chest physiotherapy intervention conducted over three sessions is effective in addressing inefficient respiratory functions in individuals with acute respiratory tract infections.
